MY LEARNING FALL AND RISE

It was the first day of school and as all first days I was tired and bored.  I wasn't motivated to do anything on that day so all I was going to do was sit down and listen to music.

When entering my first class of the day which was an English class I was expecting to receive a syllabus or something like that, but to my surprise something very unexpected happened. As the teacher stood up from his chair and introduced himself he asked us a very weird and unexpected question. He told us if we wanted to learn the same old boring way or if we wanted to learn in a new way that he called Open-Source Leaning. After explaining to us what this was he told us to discuses among ourselves and decided how we wanted to learn. He also said that while we were discussing he was going to step out of the class and that to call him in when we were ready to choose the way we were going to learn.

My initial experience with the journals was not that good. I would write short answers to the questions that were asked so all my journals were about 3-5 lines long. As for my blog I wasn't doing that well either. I wasn't really posting anything because I was procrastinating a lot. Now I think that I'm doing better in both of these things. My journals are now at least half a page and I also posted some posts on my blog. I have also gone back to read some stories that we read in class like Earth on Turtles Back, Young Goodman Brown, and my favourite The Pedestrian.

In class there was a point where the tension started to build up. I wasn't doing that well in the class so I didn't know if I was going to even pass the class. I started to panic a little and started to think about what I could do to improve the grade I had so I can pass the class. So what I did was try to do what I was already doing a lot better and didn't really concentrate on the past because it was to late to fix it.

I have improved in many ways since when I first entered in this class. I have become a better writer and I have also learn better ways to memorise.

MY ESSAY ESSAY

The plot of the story Young Goodman Brown was when Goodman Brown started to notice that all the people that he looked up to were all worshippers of the devil. At first he was not  completely convinced that everyone he knew was bad. He then later found out that they all were but he decided to stay true to his faith and not follow the same path as the rest. But that all changed when he also found out that his fiance Faith was also a worshipper of the devil. And that pretty much sums up the plot.
The tone for this story are both serious and mysterious. For me this story is mysterious because we never really get an ending to the story so we never find out if what happened to him was a dream or reality. Plus what makes it more mysterious is that the whole town was acting like if nothing happened. This story is also serious because stuff like this could actually happen to people. Stuff like getting your faith tested are actual real and serious stuff.
In the story Young Goodman Brown symbolises the innocence of young good men. It also symbolises how these innocent people could become corrupted and lose their innocence just like Goodman Brown when he saw everyone he knew even his fiance worshipping the devil. In today's world stuff like the internet, drugs, and gangs corrupt the young and strip them from any innocence they once had.

THE MEDIUM IS THE MESSAGE

The way that I will select the most appropriate channel for my communication is by reading the reviews on apps that help me secure my communication. Today in class Dr. Preston showed us an app that will help us secure our e-mail. I forgot the name of the app so I will probably ask him tomorrow if I remember. Some days before he also showed us an app that secures our texts. That app is called Signal and its an app that encrypts your messages so that other people aren't able to see what you are sending to the other person. From now on I will have to use these apps because just like the saying goes it's better to be safe than sorry

THE MAKING OF AN ESSAY

Every time I hear the word essay come up the first thing I think about is the stress I am going to go through. I also think about all the time that I will be wasting doing it. Teachers until now have only made us think of essay as something hard and stressful. We are told that we must write about one single subject which makes it hard because not all of us can write about a single thing for at least a whole page. We are also told to follow a single format which most of us do not understand.From what we were told yesterday teachers have not taught us the true way and meaning of writing an essay. Dr. Preston was telling us essays should be a way of being understood and that they shouldn't be all that hard that in the contrary it should be pretty easy. I hope that this way of writing essays that Mr Preston will teach us changes my mind about essays.

CONSCIENCE OF A HACKER

My first impression to the reading of Conscience of a Hacker was that this person was right in all he was saying. People accuse hackers of being criminals they forget about all the good stuff these hackers have done and concentrate only on the bad stuff some hackers did. They are always seen as the bad guys for bypassing security while the people that are destroying our world are seen as the good. I also liked the way that he was switching from himself to the teachers and saying thing that they would be saying.
